Arkaya Awareness Practices for Vagal Toning & Nervous System Strength

A transformational six week series. Build your love nerve. Increase compassion and self-regulation. Learn the principles of integrated manifestation with Yogacharini Maitreyi

Introduction

Have you ever wondered how someone has a calm self reflective energy, patience, a good flow, healthy boundaries and a great attitude. Or does that sound like a younger version of you? You can find that same or better levels of energy by tweaking your lifestyle habits and incorporating Arkaya yoga practices to reset the vagus nerve. These practices have their roots in Classical Tantra (not western sexualised Tantra).

In Tantra (Pronounced Thun-thra) the perspective is that one needs to bring more light or consciousness into the nerves, pranic pathways as well as internal and external connections to see how everything impacts everything.

In this six week course you will learn practical tips and practices to support the vagus nerve and build a robust nervous system. This will give you the foundation to embody uplifting principles and give you the energy to work towards higher states of consciousness.

The vagus nerve is one of the longest cranial nerves in the body, running from the gut to the brain and connecting everything in between. It is responsible for the gut-brain connection. Study of the vagus nerve has gained popularity in the modern medical system. It is responsible for emotional regulation, social connection and the fear response.

The genius of the ancient Rishis (sages/yogis) of India has now been affirmed and made popular by modern scientific research. Polyvagal Theory, was introduced by Dr. Stephen Porges back in 1994 and, since then, among other fields of study, he has collaborated with various researchers and yoga practitioners to understand the impact of these ancient practices pertaining to the role of the vagus nerve in emotional regulation, social connection and fear response. In an interview, Dr. Porges alluded to the fact that the yogic system is already a complete system. He stated that modern science does not have to add anything to it, and only serves to confirm through a different lens what the Rishis already understood.

Did you know that Arkaya Tantra Yoga - which includes meditation, deep breathing, chanting and mindful movement - impacts the vagus nerve in one of the deepest and most powerful ways. There are ancient techniques done with the eyes, tongue and prana (life force) that can reset your system into balance. This makes you fit not only for the higher yogic practices but also helps you deal with your karmic circumstances in the most relaxed way. It allows you to live consciously and well in this world.

With a strong nervous system, you will be enabled to hold space for your own emotions as well as for others. As you hold space there is no projection or suppression of that emotional energy. What happens when there is projection or suppression? You either break trust and lose connection with the other person (projection) or break trust and lose connection with yourself (suppression).

A sensitized nervous system will help you be more attuned to prana and your psychic space. This will help you have better boundaries on all levels - physical, emotional, energetic and psychic.
